LIFE HACKS

Lets make daily tasks as simple as possible!

House Hold Chores

A co-worker of mine actually filled me in on this simple yet major life hack!

Try to do your house hold chores throughout the week.

For example:

  1. Monday - grocery shopping/ prep produce for the week

  2. Tuesday - clean the bathroom(s)

  3. Wednesday - clean the kitchen

  4. Thursday - clean bedroom(s)/ start laundry

  5. Friday - finish laundry

This way while we're living for the weekend, we can actually ENJOY the weekend!

Minimise Food Waste

I know a lot of you are probably similar to me in the sense I HATE WASTING FOOD!

I will purposely choose against making a recipe to not have to buy the giant green cabbage in the grocery store when the recipe only calls for 1/2 cup of shredded cabbage...

Here are a few tips that work for me:

  1. Pre-plan your grocery trips!

Now i don't mean just writing a list.

Before even starting to write your list for the week- google a few simple recipes you are likely to make throughout the week. This will help prevent you from just blindly buying or adding things on the list that sound good at the time.

  1. Prep all your produce at once!

I CAN'T STRESS THIS ONE ENOUGH!!

After going grocery shopping (either that same day or next day) cut up all the vegetables and fruits you buy and place it all back in the fridge.

With the ease of everything being prepped and ready to go whenever you are, i guarantee you will have little to no waste at the end of the week!

Eat Healthier

Once you have all your produce prepped - eating healthier is sooo much Easier! (^^Minimise Food Waste)

Make sure you start off your morning with a healthy meal!

This will likely set your day up for success

Refrain from the "store bought muffin and coffee" for breakfast (once and a while there is nothing wrong with this)

Instead try making:

Healthy breakfast cookies. Here are some great options https://www.shelikesfood.com/healthy-naturally-sweetened-breakfast-cookies-6-ways/ (I really like the peanut butter banana flavour)

Or if you have more time in the morning you can make and omelette using all the prepped vegetables you have in your fridge (if it turns into scrambled eggs that okay - mine usually do lol)

Throughout the day try to enjoy "balanced" meals/ snacks - i never really understood this before. Your body processes foods differently when eaten alongside different foods.

i.e. if you're reaching for a spoonful of peanut butter- eat the spoonful with some apple slices or some nuts- this will help keep you fuller for longer (I don't know the science behind this but its true lol)

Also don't forget about the prepped produce in the fridge you can add to anything ;)

Drink lots of water throughout the day- this is not just a cliche (haha that rhymes)

Most importantly if you are hungry EAT - your body needs fuel! With everything in life your diet needs balance! This is not meant to make you feel like you need to punish yourself for eating something "unhealthy" or any of that nonsense that we tell ourselves. This is meant to help you see eating healthy isn't as difficult or time consuming as it may seem - grab and go what could be easier :)
